“An interesting thing is the fact that many equipment producers and operators focused on new technologies. We also have examples from Romania, with data services launched by Zapp and Vodafone, or the experiments made in other countries, regarding the LTE [Long Term Evolution] technology, with GSM-LTE equipment, which practically lead to lower expenses,” Catalin Marinescu, President of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM), said.
“I know that the main operators in Nordic countries tested LTE equipment, and I understand that the tests were successful. In Finland, this technology is expected to be implemented as of the second half of 2010 and throughout 2011. This will be one of the fastest implementations, but Romania has also been among the first to adopt new technologies,” the official added.
