Time needed for U.S. bailout plan to help local stock market
“Passing the Paulson plan does not solve all the problems of international economies, especially the U.S. The market was expecting this approval,” said ING Bank Romania’s Capital Markets Manager, Florin Ilie.

In the short term, conditions on the local market will remain “very difficult, as problems persist. For Monday’s session, I see no significant change compared to Friday,” Ilie added.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) registered a slight rise on Friday, but the value of deals was very low, as most investors were expecting the result of the vote in the U.S. Congress. The BET index of the top ten companies in terms of liquidity rose 0.3 percent, the BET-FI index of financial investment companies (SIF) increased 0.8 percent, while the BET-C composite index remained unchanged.
