Tornado produces over 33,000 PCs in 2007

The top Romanian IT&C market distributor, Tornado Sistems, posted sales in 2007 of 33,042 units of its Kinetix brand computer.

“Tornado Sistems registered a 38.7 percent increase in sales of its own Kinetix brand in 2007, compared to 2006, when it sold 23,821 units. In terms of market share, this means a rise from 4.9 percent in 2006 to 5.5 percent in 2007,” said Gerald Maer, General Manager of Tornado Sistems.

Company officials are estimating sales in 2008 to reach 44,800 units, up by some 35 percent year-on-year. Maer added that the sale of Kinetix PCs made up some 8 percent of total company sales in 2007.

Turnover at the end of the 2006-2007 fiscal year, in June 2007, amounted to some $130 million (€82.83 mln), and Tornado Sistems representatives are forecasting 30 percent growth by July 2008, to $169 mln (€107.6 mln).

“The main engine which is driving the growth of the Kinetix brand is configuration solutions, designed to meet client needs, as well as the quality-price ratio,” said Maer. The company’s General Manager also indicated that Kinetix brand products are very reliable, with a low rate of returns for servicing.

Last year, the main local producers of computers, namely CES, Flamingo International, ProCa, Romsoft, K Tech Electronics, Tornado, Brinel, Maguay and Comrace sold over 472,000 PCs.
