“Salaries for executive positions registered the highest increase, but still cannot meet Western levels, because we lack productivity and efficiency to support such growth,” the company’s Human Resource Manager, Anca Podoleanu said. For call-center employees, salaries rose 30 percent, due to the shortage of the workforce, while IT specialists enjoyed a wage hike of up to 20 percent.
For middle and top management positions, benefit packages are also aligned to Western standards. “On the market, there is a wide gap between annual bonuses, both in terms of quantity and the way these are calculated,” Podoleanu said. However, she added, that one of the benefits used abroad to retain employees, namely stock options, is seldom used in Romania.
However, as of this year, Vodafone Romania is providing stock options for all employees. Other benefits include health and dental insurance for employees and their families, membership to fitness clubs, and private pensions.
