The best evolution was that of Alumil Rom Industry (ALU), as the aluminum profile producer’s shares appreciated by 261 percent on the Stock Exchange. Rompetrol Rafinare (RRC) shares came second, with a 227 percent increase. If RRC’s place does not come as a surprise, brokers indicated this is due to speculations on the public offering price, and the fact that the Impact real estate developer ranks third, with a return of 206.7 percent, is unexpected, especially since the real estate sector did not show strong signs of rebound, and the company’s profit plunged by an annual 95 percent in the first nine months.
Significant increases were also registered by Condmag (+190 percent), Biforam (+165.3 percent) and Zentiva (+158 percent), the last two companies mentioned being the leaders of recovery in the pharmaceutical sector. However, for next year, expectations for this field are not very optimistic, given that the new sales tax (clawback system) will soon be introduced.
In the banking sector, Banca Transilvania shares doubled their value registered at the beginning of 2009, while BRD shares gained 84 percent.
