The largest net sellers in 2008, withdrawing a net €50 mln, were from the U.S., most affected by the financial crisis, considering that the American economy has been facing serious problems since 2007, leading to a recession. Sweden, Austria, and the United Kingdom follow with the largest withdrawals off the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).
In this year’s first three quarters, foreigners acquired shares worth €601.6 mln, three times less than in the January-September 2007 period, while sales amounted to €616.7 mln.
The largest net buyers on BVB in the first nine months were Cyprus and Luxembourg, which brought €50.3 mln and €45.4 mln, respectively, to the local market, according to the Romanian National Securities Commission (CNVM).
