However, according to political analyst Cristian Parvulescu, the breakup could come as early as June, when elections for the European Parliament (EP) are organized. “I think the current coalition will last between six months and one year, depending on the EP elections and the presidential polls next fall,” he said.
Furthermore, Parvulescu added that he is convinced that, if President Traian Basescu is reelected, PDL will become more self-confident and force the Social Democrats out of government.
 
The Manager of the Public Policies Institute (IPP), Adrian Moraru, agrees that the coalition will have a short life. “The government is dealing with a difficult economic situation. There will be temptation to point fingers and to find a scapegoat in the opposite camp, unless they find a working solution for a certain economic problem,” he said.
 
According to the latest opinion poll, released last Sunday by the INSOMAR polling institute, some 43 percent of voters trust the ruling coalition.
