“From December to now, pre-paid sales crashed 70-80 percent, depending on the operator. The lower consumption is reflected mainly among persons with low income, who have stopped recharging their cards. On the other hand, the drop in consumption in case of subscribers, which led to a decline of up to seven percent in the average invoice in real terms, was not felt by clients, due to the depreciation of the leu by more than 15 percent,” said ANC’s President, Liviu Nistoran.
However, Nistoran said he estimates a rise of no less than 30-40 percent in traffic and in the number of mobile internet users. “Once Romtelecom and Zapp initiates 3G commercial operations, I am sure that prices will fall, and the market will rise to compensate the drop on the voice segment,” ANC’s President added.
