The first of the two programs, officially launched today, has already attracted some 9,000 tourists, who have acquired or reserved places. “Many tourists knew about this program and reserved tickets prior to its launch. This is why some 9,000 places have been sold or reserved to date, with the first series, the 1-6 September period, already sold out before the launch,” according to a declaration yesterday for Business Standard by Daniel Vasilescu, FPTR President. He went on to say that in order to attract the largest number of tourists, prices remained similar to last year, although this year they often include breakfast. “Furthermore, all seaside resorts agreed to be involved in the program, and the number of spaces increased from 2,800-3,500 [per week] to almost 9,000 a present,” added Vasilescu, who indicated that a similar program in spring did only reach an 85 percent occupancy rate.
This summer, the number of seaside tourists rose significantly every weekend. The season’s record was this past Saturday, when some 155,000 visitors spent time along the country’s coast. The resorts with the highest occupancy rates are Mamaia, Costinesti, Neptun-Olimp and Vama Veche.
