Current account deficit – Romania sees 76.5% widening of C/A gap in the first nine months

The current account gap had previously widened more than 87 percent until August this year, the lender said.

The balance of payments tempered slightly compared to the first eight months of the year when the current account gap stood at 10.2 billion lei, following an 87.12 percent widening.

The trade deficit also widened 67 percent to 12.265 billion lei, compared to the January-September period in 2006.

The country’s current account deficit widened to 7.81 billion euros in the first half of the year. The current account deficit widened 104 percent in the first five months of the year, against the same period last year, to 5.9 billion euros.
