The group’s strategy includes increasing the production capacity to 100,000 MW from its current 60,000 MW level, and reducing the CO2/MWh emissions by 50 percent by 2030.

Luge said that the price of energy will be subject to a long-term global increase, even though prices in contracts signed for 2009 registered a slight drop. “The recent volatility is only a short-term issue,” E.ON’s CEO added. The group is maintaining its objectives of investing in new production capacities, in spite of the global crisis.
E.ON also intends to invest in the production of biogas on the local market. “Romania is one of our group’s target markets. We pay attention to everything that happens on the Romanian energy market and, depending on opportunities and conditions, we will make decisions regarding investments in this country,” Frank Hajdinjak, General Manager of E.ON Gaz Romania Holding, told Business Standard.
