Some 200,000 online transactions have been recorded. During the first six months of 2007 the volume of online purchases paid by card was 1.65 times higher than throughout 2006, Gecad ePayment CEO, Carmen Sebe, said.
"If the trend remains unchanged we will witness at least a tripling of the market by the end of the year," she added. According to Sebe, the market increase is due both to clients opting for online shopping and payment by card and storeowners' deciding to promote such payments. Gecad ePayment has an 87 percent share of the e-payment market. There were some €14.3 worth of products and services purchased and paid for with Gecad's ePayment in the January-June period, amounting to a total of 160,000 transactions.
