The airline’s revenues rose by an annual 32 percent at the end of the first quarter of the 2009 fiscal year, and the company’s forecasts are optimistic. easyJet sold 44.58 million tickets in the past 12 months, 16.6 percent more year-on-year, and registers an 84.6 percent occupancy rate.
easyJet is not the only company optimistic about the Romanian low-cost market. Wizz Air has also announced a doubling of its personnel capacity in Romania, to support the opening of its third base in the country. However, analysts in the field say that the low-cost air market will slow its growth pace in 2009. Other players on this segment include Blue Air, MyAir, and SkyEurope.
