EnergoNuclear due to appoint its CEO shortly

„A list has been drafted, probably final, with the 13 members of the Board of Directors, 7 from the state and 5 representing energy giants or investors involved in the project, and several names are being considered for the position of CEO [Chief Executive Officer],“ sources close to discussions told Business Standard.

Teodor Nitulescu, former Mayor of Alexandria and former Prefect of Teleorman County, is favored for the CEO position by the Ministry of Economy, Nuclearelectrica’s majority shareholder.

SC Energo Nuclear SA came into being after signing of an agreement between SN Nuclearelectrica SA and six investors: ArcelorMittal, CEZ, Gaz de France (GDF) SUEZ, ENEL, Iberdrola, and RWE Power. Shares were divided as follows: Nuclearelectrica with 51 percent, CEZ, GDF SUEZ, Enel, and RWE Power each with 9.15 percent, and ArcelorMittal and Iberdrola with 6.2 percent each.

The Cernavoda plant nuclear reactors are to become operational in 2014–2015, and their construction is expected to begin in 2010–2011. Each unit will have an installed capacity of 720 MW.
