The group currently has undergoing talks with several parties, which include businessman Dinu Patriciu, one of the wealthiest businessmen in Romania. The Cameron MKenna law firm is assisting the Erste group in this sale, while the Salans law firm ensures legal consultancy to Patriciu.
“Anglo-Romanian Bank is profitable and we are in no rush to sell it. Given the current market conditions, we want to carefully study offers, to identify the best solution for the future,” an Erste official, Ionut Stanimir, told Business Standard.
The transaction is estimated at €100 million. The bank posted €10 mln worth of profit at the end of 2007. It has assets worth some €200 mln and one subsidiary in London, one in Frankfurt and four others in Romania.
