Results in H1 2008 will affect the evolution of the market for the whole year, with estimates for growth now down to 10 percent, compared to 17 percent year-on-year, if sales continue at July levels, say main mobile telephone retailers.
Representatives of EuroGSM told Business standard that the subscription market is subject to a downward trend, dropping 25-30 percent, while the terminal market is still rising, and the company has registered sales growth of 17 percent in H1.
According to Costin Soare, Retail Manager of Avenir-Telecom, the mobile telephone market began a descent in March.
“This year, mobile telephone sales started out with two very good months, following which the market regressed slightly in March, by some 25 percent, a level that has been maintained through June. We have noticed significant growth in terms of volumes as of July, which we hope will continue throughout the second half of 2008,” according to a declaration for Business Standard by Soare.
