“The Ecocat project is presently at the stage of obtaining building permits, with the construction of the factory due to be finalized in October 2009. The company has concessioned 5,000 square meters of land in the industrial park for €0.1/per sqm,” according to a declaration for Business Standard by the park’s Administrator, Marin Nicoli.
The company, whose headquarters is in Vihtavuori, was established in 1985 and produces catalytic converters and filters for the full range of motorcycle, automobile, and commercial vehicle engines, both gasoline and diesel. It operates in Europe, Asia and the United States, and has production units in Sweden, Finland, Russia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Romania and Turkey
The American Ford carmaker recently invited 40 suppliers to Romania to visit the Craiova factory, including Faurecia from France, Trelleborg Automotive from Sweden, and Amtek Group from India. Most are already suppliers for Ford’s seven assembly units in Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Spain and Turkey.
