“Automobile Craiova’s workers are currently going through all the necessary stages for beginning production, and we know that these practical courses are part of these stages for producing the Transit Connect model in this year’s second half,” said the spokeswoman for Ford Romania, Nadia Crisan. She indicated that the new model will most likely be launched at the beginning of fall.
According to Hans Juergen Fuchs, Communication and Public Relations Manager of Ford Europe, the Ford plant’s investment and recruitment program will continue as planned when the American carmaker took over the plant, in spite of the financial crisis, which is significantly affecting the world auto industry.
Ford took over Automobile Craiova at the beginning of 2008, for €57 million, and the American producer made the commitment to for a direct investment worth €675 million for the plant’s modernization and a supplementing of the number of employees.
