He added that the decline on the consumer segment was partly compensated by projects for corporate clients, such as telecom operator Romtelecom or Romania’s largest company, Petrom, in the first six months of 2009.
“In Romania, the decline was felt earlier than in Austria, where we even registered growth for some IT products in terms of consumer sales. People still had their jobs and salaries. Plus lower prices promoted by retailers were significant. In Romania, it happened earlier because of the emotions related to the crisis, Romanians use to say that they never exited the crisis,” Horak told Business Standard.
According to data by Gartner market research company, Fujitsu sold 7,242 computers in the first quarter of 2009, some 66 percent lower year-on-year.
