“CFR Calatori continues its new car acquisition programs and existing car modernization programs in 2009. At present, 63 percent of the cars are over 20 years old, with the remainder cars that are either new or upgraded in the past 15 years,” the company’s General Manager, Razvan Laurentiu Stoica, told Business Standard.
According to the official, RON 406.83 million (almost €100 mln) was allocated from the state budget for 2009 for new passenger cars as well as rebuilt and upgraded passenger cars. “The amount necessary for investments planned for this year is RON 1.2 billion (some €280 mln), and we estimate that RON 1.4 billion will be necessary in future,” Stoica said.
Moreover, CFR Calatori assigned seven contracts, worth RON 148.28 mln (some €35 mln), not including VAT, for the repair of 3,460 cars, to seven companies, including Astra Vagoane Calatori, controlled by Valer Blidar, and Atelierele CFR Grivita, controlled by Fathi Taher.
