“We are estimating incomes of €15 million for local tourism and €10 million for foreign tourism. I believe that income could reach €30 million,” said Traian Badulescu, spokesman for ANAT in a statement for Business Standard.
Market players also indicated that income will vary between €20-25 mln. “I believe this is a high estimate, but it is feasible, considering that 6-7 charter flights will operate from Romania during that period,” said Alin Burcea, General Manager of Paralela 45 travel agency, one of the most important players on the market. Aurel Pavel, General Manager of J’Info Tours, agrees with the amount estimated by ANAT.
Claudia Stan, Marketing Manager at Aerotravel, believes that tourists will chose destinations with similar traditions as Romania. The travel agency offers a tour of Israel and tourism packages for Greece, Italy or Spain.
The agencies have included the Romanian seaside in their Easter offers, due to the season opening early for the NATO Summit in Bucharest. According to available information, 29 hotels will be opened during the summit, from 2-6 April.
Income from Easter tourism expected to be €25 mln
