“MKB Romexterra Leasing sold a fleet of 60 trucks and trailers in Holland in October, for €2.5 million. To this amount, we applied a discount between 15 and 30 percent,” said Cornel Coca Constantinescu, General Manager of MKB Romexterra Leasing. He added that the peak of MKB Romexterra Leasing recoveries was reached between May and August, and things have now leveled off.
The General Manager of Raiffeisen Leasing, Mihaela Mateescu, said that, by the end of October, 80 percent of the 490 goods sold by the company went to foreign markets.
MKB Romexterra Leasing rescheduled the instalments for contracts making up some 11 percent of its portfolio, considering that 75 percent of the company’s corporate clients are dependent on the agreements with the state. “There are clients whom the state has not paid invoices for finished work, and who thus entered a financial deadlock,” said the General Manager of the leasing company.
According to estimates provided by the Financial Companies Association (ALB), the Romanian leasing market will end 2009 with total financings worth €1.25 billion, down 38 percent from four years ago. The structure of financings made available by companies in the field in the first nine months of this year show that cars made up 63.6 percent of the total, equipment 19.5 percent, and real estate 17 percent.
