Lower growth for Canon in 2008
For 2008, company representatives are estimating an increase in sales of at least 40 percent, lower year-on-year based on reduced sales due to a maturation of the market.

The photo-video segment makes up 35 percent of total Canon Romania sales, and a significant rise in sales is similarly expected in 2008. “There will be a noticeable increase on this market in sales of semi-professional and professional cameras (DSLR). Canon will see an increase of 250 percent in this segment,” according to a statement for Business Standard by Nicu Stanescu, Business Unit Manager Canon Photo-Video. The main engine of growth in this segment will be a rise in sales of mobile telephones with digital cameras, whose international sales rose to 250 million units since the beginning of 2007.

In Romania the company uses six distributors, including Tornado Sistems, Macro International, and IT&S.

The company’s main competitors for the photo-video division are Sony, FujiFilm, Panasonic, and Benq, while for office equipment Canon shares the market with Konica Minolta, Xerox and HP.
