Company officials indicated that this rise will come from a new Bucharest-Stuttgart route as of March, four times a week. The spokesman of Germanwings, Andreas Engel, the low-cost operator is planning to develop in Romania, following detailed research of the market.

“The Bucharest-Koln/Bonn route is a popular destination, for both pleasure and business travelers. The new Stuttgart route will serve the same clientele,” added Engel. He added that Romania is a continually developing market, which is attempting to meet the level of other European countries.

Germanwings came onto the Romanian market in March 2007, with a strategy to serve mostly business people. Other low-cost airline operators in Romania are market leader, Blue Air, Hungary’s Wizz Air, SkyEurope (Slovakia), MyAir (Italy), and British easyJet.
