Most managers take their holidays with their families, but cell phones and laptops are part of their baggage, to manage their business from a distance. Favorite destinations are Greece, Turkey, France, and Italy, according to responses to several questions in a Business Standard questionnaire.
Tour operators have indicated that several managers have chosen exotic destinations this year, such as Tenerife, Mallorca, Kenya, and Seychelles. According to J'Info Tours agency's General Manager, Aurel Pavel, the cost for such a holiday is some €20,000.
"When you run a business, you are never completely on holiday, even if you go on holiday," says Roberto Musneci, Manager of institutional communication company CMC Consulting and Intermediation.
Musneci told Business Standard he talks on the phone, uses e-mail and teleconferencing with partners and clients almost every day, while on vacation. Musneci and his family spent two weeks skiing in the Italian resort of Iglesias, this summer. "We have been going there for some 10 years now. It's a sort of family reunion," says Musneci, who was born in Italy. He declined to provide a budget for his vacation. "If you want to go skiing in the summer, there is a price," he said. Siemens SRL Romania's General Manager, Adrian Baicusi, plans to go to Montenegro with his family, this summer. He says he is going to pay some €2,500 for the holiday.
