He told Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) students that, on the short term, a "natural adjustment" of the deficit will be made, as the consumption will temper. The PM added that current account deficit narrowing started this year.
Last year, the current account deficit widened by 66 percent compared to2006, up to €16.9 billion, or 14 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). In the first nine months of 2008, the deficit widened 14.8 percent year-on-year, to €12.7 bln. For the end of the year, a 13.6-13.8 percent current account deficit is foreseen. (NewsIn)
