Most say this is the amount that would allow them to live well. Less of 1 percent of the 2,700 young people interviewed by Evolore tried to prove to the employer that they could bring more money than the requested salary.
Students blame employers for their lack of experience. 92 percent of the participants said companies choose employees with experience, so young people have no chance to prove their abilities.
Only 12 percent of participants said they would be willing to participate in non-profit projects or to accept smaller salaries for the time spent to accumulate experience. “A lot of young people see the first job as an opportunity to develop and gain experience, but some see this as a gift from the company, with no need to make efforts,” Senior Consultant of executive search company Arthur Hunt, Sorin Roibu, said. The remainder 88 percent say they prefer to wait a better offer.
Human resources specialists say some of the candidates are superficial. They go to the interview with the typical resume and have no information on the company or the job they applied for.
