Raiffeisen: The current account deficit could rise to 14% of the GDP

The bank’s analysts expect for this deficit to be covered 40 percent by foreign direct investments. Romania’s current account deficit widened 108.6 percent in the first six months of the year, following the high widening of the trade balance.

Raiffeisen’s research unit said estimations of the annual inflation rate could exceed 4.5 percent in the next months. The analysts note yearly inflation rate could lower to 4 percent in December, if Romania's central bank will not heavily increase the administration costs.

The country’s current account deficit widened to 7.81 billion euros in the first half of the year. The current account deficit widened 104 percent in the first five months of the year, against the same period last year, to 5.9 billion euros.
