Brokerage companies Broker Cluj and BT Securities launched products to offer loans to clients, while other brokers plan to give loans to clients who want to buy shares, but only on a preferential basis. Other companies are testing the launch of such products and already offer loans to a reduced group of clients.
Broker Cluj management says it gave loans worth RON 20 million (€5.46 mln) in December 2007. BT Securities estimates a similar amount. The largest loan provided by BT Securities amounted to €1 mln, while Broker Cluj says its top loan was RON 2 mln (over €500,000).
Clients guarantee loans with shares. BT Securities also accepts cash, while Broker Cluj accepts first category listed shares on BVB.
