The telephony company's had 269,582 new customers in the first fiscal quarter of the 2008 financial year (April 2007-March 2008), according to company officials, and 1,470,351 new customers in the past 12 months.
Revenues from services increased as well, by 26.8 percent year-on-year, and by the end of the 2006-2007 financial year, these reached $1.304 billion (€1.012 billion). "We are very pleased with the strong financial results registered in the past quarter. Revenues from services continue to benefit from sustained performance," said Liliana Solomon, President and CEO of Vodafone Romania.
Vodafone's total revenues amounted to $1.369 billion (€1.062 billion), a 28 percent increase from the 2005-2006 financial year. The average revenue per user (ARPU) increased by 12.1 percent, reaching $15.7 (€11.39) in the quarter that ended on 30 June 2007, from $14 (€10.15) in the prior quarter, ending on 31 March 2007.
The number of subscribers rose by 4.3 percent from the level registered in the previous quarter. Customers with subscriptions make up 34.1 percent of the total number of Vodafone Romania customers, while those using prepaid services represent the remaining 65.9 percent. Vodafone Group Plc, the world's leading mobile telecommunications company posted net sales worth £8.3 billion (€12.34 billion), up 7.5 percent year-on-year.
