“On the whole, the number of employees in the car parts sector fell by about 10,000 compared to last year. But we must distinguish between two categories of suppliers: those connected to the Dacia car maker and those producing for foreign markets. The former are on an upward trend, with higher-than-expected work volume. The latter are still having difficulties, some have registered a 20 percent decline in production,” Constantin Stroe, President of the Association of Automotive Manufacturers of Romania (ACAROM) and Vice President of Dacia, told Business Standard.
Beneficiary of the car trade-in programs in Germany, France and other Western markets, Dacia doubled its ratio in Romania’s exports in the past year, and is swamped by orders.
