Thermopane market has reached 1 billion euro

Almost one third of companies interviewed have even estimated a more optimistic increase, somewhere between 25 and 50 percent in 2007.

The value of the thermo isolating carpentry market reached  some €800 million in 2006. “This year, it could reach one billion euros. Its evolution is normal, at a  pace similar to that of the entire construction market. I believe that the rate of increase will not be lower than 15 percent over the next 10 years,” Marin Crutescu, President of the Association of Thermo Isolating Carpentry Producers (PPTT). He added that half of the population in cities has already acquired thermo isolating carpentry.

Crutescu mentioned that more than 90 percent of products available on the market are imported, and “we cannot talk about a major manufacturer in Romania”.

“Some producers now tend to separate production from assembly,” according to Crutescu.

There are over 40 PVC product brands and more than 20 aluminum product brands on the Romanian market.

The top eight PVC brands together have a 76 percent market share on the PVC carpentry market, while the top two suppliers on the aluminum carpentry market together enjoy a 55 percent market share.

The PVC market accounts for 73 percent of the thermo isolating carpentry market, followed by the aluminum market, with 26.2 percent. The market is dominated by small-sized producers with a total 24.4 percent market share, whose monthly production capacities are 250 square meters, according to  Neomar Consulting.

A further 22 percent of producers have a monthly production capacity of some 250-500 sqm, and 30 percent of the producers can manufacture more than 750 sqm every month. Greatest demand on the thermo isolating systems market is for tricameral systems (45 percent), although their ratio dropped by 11 percent in 2006 year-on-year.

“Its evolution is normal, at a pace similar to that of the entire construction market. I believe that the rate of increase will not be lower than 15 percent over the next 10 years.'' Marin Crutescu President, PPTT
