Briton Rod Sanderson, General Manager of Cargill Romania, will go on to manage the group's business in Hungary from 15 August. The decision was made shortly after the American company bought the Hungarian Agrograin group, one of the main players on the local grain market, as part of the process to expand the company regionally. Cargill operates on the Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Russian and Turkish markets.
As concerns the grain division, the Romanian branch registered losses of some €3 million last year of a business worth €6 million, down three times year-on-year.
At the end of last year, the American group took over the Dutch company LNB International Feed.
Cargill Romania began its activity in 1996 as an intermediation agency for grain export. The company acquired its first silo in Calarasi in 2000.
