New management for Metro Cash&Carry

Andrei Bica worked for Metro Cash&Carry from 2004-2007, as Tax&Treasury Manager. He began his career in 2000 with the Interbrands distribution company, where he served as Treasurer. From 2001-2004 he worked as Senior Tax Consultant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Within Metro’s Board of Directors, the CFO is subordinate to the Administrative Director, position held since the beginning of February by the German Frank Hammerle.

Contacted by Business Standard, Andrei Bica and Metro representatives preferred not to comment.

The top management team is made up largely of expatriates: Francois Oliver (originally with Carrefour), Managing Director, Vladimir Vava, Operations Director, Bart Blomme, Purchasing Food Director, Harry De Moor, Purchasing Non Food Director, Adriana Ross-Maugourd, HR Director, and Frank Hammerle, Administrative Director.

The German Metro group has been present on the Romanian market with its cash&carry division through a 23-store network, and its 14-store Real hypermarkets.
