Meanwhile, some 80-90 percent of foreign companies use strategic consulting for their business, Jansen added.

The gap is explained by the fact that Romanian companies are not large and complex enough to require such advisory services, while these are mandatory for multinationals, Jansen explained.

Furthermore, fees are another cause for Romanian managers to choose not to use strategic consulting, although Jansen believes that interest of local companies will increase in the coming years.

The strategic consulting market is estimated to be worth some €20-25 million, and is expected to grow 20-25 percent this year. The company’s main competitors on the local market are McKinsey, AT Kearney, Roland Berger, Horvath&Partners, and the Big Four (KPMG, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst&Young).
