Telecommunications operator Orange, part of France Telecom group has signed an agreement with US Apple company Apple to sell the iPhone in Romania, Austria, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Switzerland and several countries in Africa, according to Orange representatives.

“We believe the Romanian market has great potential to adopt the newest products in communications,” said Vanina Ungureanu, General Manager of the Orange Product Division in Romania,.

Launched in June 2007 in the United States, iPhone combines a phone, a web browser, and a video and audio player. According to the latest data in March, Apple sold 5.4 million iPhone and targets 10 mln by the end of 2008.

Apple also signed an agreement with Vodafone, to take iPhone to a further ten markets. AT&T, the company’s distributor in the United States, said it will launch a new iPhone version on the American market this year.
