“Domestic energy consumption dropped 9-10 percent due to the recession and the crisis impact and was the main cause for the decline in revenues. Electricity exports plunged 20-25 percent and, as much as we tried to cut expenses, results were affected,” said Razvan Purdila, Head of the Strategy, International Cooperation and Equities Market Division within Transelectrica.
The energy transporter’s net profit amounted to RON 47.25 mln (€11.09 mln), in the first three months, down 42.5 percent year-on-year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) slid 23.87 percent, to RON 130.89 mln (€30.7 mln), while earnings before interest and taxes fell 38.8 percent, to RON 68.8 mln (€16.1 mln).
The results have not been audited or consolidated and are based on the Romanian accounting standards.
