The results are due to an increase in the volume of transported energy and lower expenses, Transelectrica General Manager, Stelian Gal, told Business Standard.
Transelectrica is controlled by the Finance and Economy Ministry, with 73.69 percent of the shares, and 13.5 percent by Fondul Proprietatea, a fund established to compensate persons whose assets were confiscated by the communist regime.
The company is to invest some €690 million in 2008-2013, according to a Transelectrica manager, Razvan Purdila, to be used to increase the electricity network, and to improve electricity stations and transportation capacities.
Transelectrica is listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) with a 10 percent free float.
