“We posted a vacancy last week for an analyst position and have had not a single application. Last year we received tens of CVs because people were applying indiscriminately,” said Simona Simion-Popescu, Human Resource Manager for Xerox Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
Today’s IT labor market is considerably different than that of two to three years ago, when no competition had appeared yet for talent, Simion-Popescu believes. The recruiting of IT professionals became difficult both in terms of analyst jobs, which require know-how in sales and IT, and for entry level jobs, where salary demands are exaggerated, the HR Manager added.
Xerox Romania is expanding considerably to outsource document management, and its needs for employees are proportional with contracts obtained, sometimes up to 20-30 people for a single project. Direct recruitment, through specialized agencies or the HR Department, is most efficient.
Xerox Romania plans to recruit some 70 people for operations and up to 20 employees for other positions in the company. Nevertheless, the main challenge for the HR Department will be retaining and motivating employees.
The training budget for 2008 amounts to some €150,000.
