Blue Air officials said that all passengers who made reservations for the MyAir company to and from Italy will be taken over by the Romanian operator, until 1 September, in the limit of available seats. “All passengers that made reservations or travelled frequently with MyAir from and to Italy will be taken over by the Blue Air company. We do not operate only from and to Rimini, and I understand that the only low-cost company that operated from and to this destination was MyAir,” said Blue Air’s owner, Nelu Iordache, quoted by the NewsIn agency.
In reply, Wizz Air announced yesterday that it launches two new routes from Bucharest to Italy, to adjust to the new competitive environment. Blue Air and Wizz Air have been battling fiercely for over two years for the leading position on the Romanian market. Routes, prices, and fleets are the main weapons thrown by the two companies in this battle.
The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) announced on Wednesday the suspension of the flight license of the Italian MyAir low-cost company, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP). This suspension, on an indefinite period of time, goes into effect as of Friday “at 0:01,” local time.
