Thus, EBRD will limit to granting a €100 mln loan to the state-owned company, and will initiate syndication between various lenders for €50 mln. A final agreement has not yet been reached, the Head of the Energy Department within EBRD, Nandita Parshad, told Business Standard.
EBRD had approved a €300 mln loan last September for Turceni, which would have been one of the largest loans granted without government guarantees to a Romanian company. According to sources in CE Turceni, of the €300 mln, EBRD would have ensured €100 mln, and the remainder was to be covered by syndication from several commercial banks.
Parshad further said that the lender is also in talks with Electrocentrale Bucureşti (ELCEN), for the financing of a €150 mln project, without having set the exact amount of the loan, which could be syndicated with commercial banks or export loan agencies.
