“Companies cannot afford to lay off a large number of employees, in spite of the economic crisis, which has sharply cut orders, because they invested a lot in recruiting and training to date. Companies are in stand-by, hoping that the market will revive as of March-April, and there will be no significant layoffs until then,” Stefan Erdei, General Manager of the Timis County Employment Agency, told Business Standard.
Constantin Stroe, Vice President of the Automobile Dacia car producer, together with officials of importers, hope the demand on this market will rebound as of this year’s second quarter.
Arges county which accounts for a total €10.7 billion or 39 percent of the national auto industry, is the location for most car parts producers, most of which are directly connected to Automobile Dacia. The main car producer in Romania has closed its factory for more than two months since October, due to the sharp drop in sales.
