"While three years ago, a mere six percent of our products were oriented to the domestic market, we want 54 percent of our production to be sold in Romanian stores in 2007," Secuiana's General Manager, Dobra Laszlo (photo), told Business Standard. Furthermore, the company announced that production will be reduced by two thirds due to the devaluation of the euro. Secuiana produces men's slacks, jackets, suits, shirts and ties.
"80 percent of expenses in the lohn system go to the labor force," added Laszlo. A company using this system cannot increase prices to increase revenues, nor can it offer higher salaries. Secuiana currently employs 750 people, and the company's manager said that their number drops annually by some 70. Secuiana sells its Adam brand in 17 stores in Bucharest, Brasov, Constanta, and Targu Secuiesc, and is planning to open nine new shops by the end of the year.
"The investment for one such store is some €180,000, most of which is needed to finance product supply," added the company's representative. Germany, England, France, Italy and Greece are the most important export destinations for Secuiana products.
The company reported returns of some €4 million in H1 2007, similar to the first half of last year. Dobra Laszlo is forecasting an €8.2 million turnover for this year, slightly higher than in 2006.
