The liabilities of many of the companies with debts to the state budget in March have literally exploded in the past four months. Astra Vagoane, Altex, Blue Air, and the leasing companies of the Ţiriac group, Raiffeisen, and Romstal are also on the Ministry’s black list.

When contacted by MONEY.ro, Viorel Micula said that net sales of his companies are very high and that, as part of this intense activity, some debt may arise. He provided no further details.

Astra Vagoane Arad, for example, owned by businessman Cristian Burci, is on the list with a debt worth no less than RON 33.34 mln (€7.9 mln), compared to RON 7.58 mln (€1.8 mln) in March.

“This amount is equal to or even less than what the state must pay me back on VAT. There should also be a list with the debts they have to me,” Cristian Burci told MONEY.ro.

The Altex store chain owes RON 6.25 mln (€1.49 mln) to the state budget, compared to RON 5.66 mln (€1.34 mln) in March. “Until this year, we had no debts to the budget. You know there is an anti-crisis ordinance according to which, in our situation, we are exempt from paying them this year. Of course, we will pay before the legal deadline on 20 December,” the Chairman of the Altex group, Dan Ostahie said.

On 1 July, the Official Gazette published the ordinance for extending the deadline of outstanding fiscal debts due to the effects of the economic-financial crisis. According to this ordinance, companies that have been “clean” in previous years may request a postponement for paying fiscal liabilities for up to six months.
