BNR’s reference exchange rate stood at 4.2283 lei per euro on Thursday.

In the first part of the day, the leu soared from 4.2303 to 4.2254 versus the euro and then stabilized at 4.2328 around 1 p.m.

For the U.S. dollar, BNR’s exchange rate rose 0.77 percent to 3.3228 lei per dollar, from 3.2974 in the previous session.

On the international market, the dollar waved slightly at debut and then appreciated from 1.2832 to 1.2734 dollars per euro around noon.

Overnight interests on the monetary market stood between 2.03 and 2.53 percent a year, way below the monetary policy rate of 6.25 percent a year.
