Net average salary in Romania up 22% in the past year

The highest salary increase was registered in the capital Bucharest and in Banat – Transylvania region – where employees’ wages hiked 20 percent. Second ranks Muntenia – southern Romania – with an 18 percent salary increase, followed by Moldavia with 17 percent.

The best paid field is IT where a managerial position earned 20 percent more and a programmer almost 30 percent more. In the finance field, salaries increased 14 percent. However, the most spectacular increase, according to PwC, was in human resources with 14 to 19 percent.

The “PayWellRomania 2007” study consists of data provided by 187 companies from 13 activity fields. Most of the inquired companies are private, 80 percent have majority foreign capital, 75 percent have revenues of more than 10 million euros and employ around 900 people. The study was conducted from April 2006 to April 2007 and cannot be extended to the entire market; however it characterizes companies similar to those inquired.
