“Large holdings, present in countries such as France, Spain, and Italy, are interested in C&I, because they want to enter the Romanian market, and probably, an acquisition seems to be the best solution,” Comusi said.
He added that he is not selling the company, in spite of the fact that the international transport segment fell significantly this year. “Veolia from France made us a very good offer in 2005, but we turned it down. They wanted to enter the Romanian market by acquiring C&I,” the businessman said.
Comusi provided no details regarding the price that the French company was willing to pay in 2005 but added that C&I’s value was some €8 million last year. Moreover, the company’s turnover amounted to some €7 mln in 2008, but could drop 50 percent by year-end.
