The total value of investor portfolios was RON 7.55 bln (€1.9 bln) at the end of 2008, half the level registered at the end of the first six months. Meanwhile, the BET-XT index, which monitors the evolution of the top 25 most liquid shares on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), including the five financial investment companies (SIF), lost over 60 percent.
FCI’s resources for the compensation of investors amounted to RON 10.42 mln (€2.6 mln) at the end of last year. “Comparing this amount to the value of investments, including both money funds and financial instruments, the Fund is able to individually compensate 88 of its 104 members,” said FCI’s Chief Executive Officer, Stefan Chirtu.
