Germany’s parliament last week passed a resolution criticizing the justice reform’s pace and the extent to which Romania is fighting corruption, requesting the suspension of European funds.
On the other hand, Krichbaum saluted the decision to keep Daniel Morar at the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA), adding that this is a guarantee for the German parliament of the seriousness in the fight against corruption. “Morar is the image of a new Romania,” Krichbaum said.
Germany, as main contributor to the EU budget, was paying attention to features related to the proper functioning of Romania’s structures since the country was in pre-accession stage and was one of the last countries that signed the Accession Treaty, after being given enough guarantees that reform will continue in the justice field and will be carefully monitored.
