The General Manager of Renault Group Romania, Francois Fourmont, will attend the opening ceremony, along with Romanian Prime Minister, Calin Popescu Tariceanu.

French car maker Renault will invest €300 mln in the Dacia factory by 2009 to increase the annual production capacity to 400,000 units, and for research and development activities for the Logan model.

Renault took over Automobile Dacia in 1999 and has invested over €1.3 billion to date. The factory currently has an annual production capacity of 350,000 units.

US car maker Ford, which took over Automobile Craiova, plans to invest €675 mln in new technologies, and committed to use 60 percent of Romanian parts for cars produced at the Craiova plant.

The Romanian auto industry posted turnover worth €7.2 bln last year, 28 percent higher year-on-year. Main importers are Porsche Romania, GM SEE, AutoItalia and Trust Motors.
